CFRT FAQ

What is a typical CF class like?

All members are instructed to arrive 15 minutes prior to class to start warming up. Classes are an hour long and always start with a meeting at the whiteboard to introduce ourselves to one another and go over the WOD (workout of the day). On average, classes will contain a strength component followed by some metabolic conditioning. All workouts are performed in a group setting starting at the call of 3,2,1 go. Upon finishing your workout we encourage you to stay and support your fellow athletes until they are done. At CFRT we are not only a training facility, we are a community of friends who support and challenge one another to achieve your goals.

I feel I am out of shape; will I be in a class with elite athletes?

Yes. CrossFit is scalable to the individual. While you will be working out next to athletes of all levels, that does not mean you will be using the same weights or even performing all of the same movements. We always ensure every member is working at their own ability level.

Can I be injured?

CrossFit is a sport and with all sports you will hear about injuries. This is usually due to poor coaching, improper form or athletes trying to progress too quickly. At CFRT our coaches are experienced in proper movement technique and will not allow our members to perform advanced movements, use heavy weight or ramp up their intensity until they can demonstrate they can maintain proper form.

Females: Will CrossFit make me look ‘bulky’?

This is something we hear quite often. Everyone has their own opinion on what ‘too muscular’ looks like. Typically you will hear women talk about the CrossFitters they have seen on TV at the CrossFit games and worry they will build as much muscle as these amazing ladies. It takes an enormous amount of discipline, commitment, heavy lifting and diet to actually transform your body into someone who can perform on such an elite level. For the average person, CrossFit is designed to help you burn fat, gain strength and most importantly maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle.

Why are CrossFit boxes more expensive than standard gyms?

Unless you are working with a personal trainer (at an average cost of $50 per hour), you most likely enter a typical gym with no idea what you need to be doing or how to properly perform movements. You fall into routines that become repetitive or boring causing a lack of motivation. In a CF gym you receive daily programming designed to yield fast results. Every workout is different and run by a qualified coach to keep you moving correctly to help avoid injury. You will meet like-minded people who are there to keep you accountable and help you achieve your goals. CFRT is not just a training facility, it is a community. Can you say that about a regular gym?

Is there parking?

Do you have showers?

Do you have babysitting?
