A suicide bomber killed seven CIA officers and one Jordanian officer at a remote base in southeastern Afghanistan on December 30, 2009 after posing as a potential informant reporting on Al Qaeda. Seven new stars will be etched onto the memorial wall at the CIA where every star represents grieving friends, family and colleagues dedicated to fight against the enemy, forever in their name.
Killed in the attack were CIA officers Jennifer Lynne Matthews, 45; Scott Michael Roberson, 39; Harold E. Brown Jr., 37; Darren LaBonte, 35; Elizabeth Hanson, 30; and security contractors Jeremy Jason Wise, 35, and Dane Clark Paresi, 46.
I am extremely grateful for this beloved country I get to live in. I am grateful for my career as a firefighter and my role as first sergeant in the military. I am extremely grateful for the community we have at CFRT. You guys are the best that society has to offer and we enjoy all of the time we get to spend with you. Lastly and more importantly my beautiful wife Sarah. She has been the glue that has held me together. She has brought the very best out of me! She has stood by me for 3 overseas deployments and works harder than anyone I know. I am eternally grateful to have such an amazing woman by my side. Let’s hear from you Rail Trailers!
RIP to the CIA Seven and I will always keep those deployed in my thoughts
Love you babe!
I am thankful for the continued success we have at CFRT. I’m thankful for the amazing community we have which just keeps getting better each year. For PJ, a great partner and friend. I’m very grateful for the new relationships I have made this year. Most importantly, I am thankful for my family. My Mom and Dad, my nephews and my two sisters whom I wouldn’t be the same without. My best friend and Hubbs, Mike, I’m extremely lucky to have you as a partner in this life. Noone knows me better…and yet, you’ve still stuck around for the last 15 years 🙂
Remembering everyone deployed, today and every day. Those who have served in the past, those still serving today and those who have given their lives for ours. RIP to the Seven, today was a grind for sure.
I am thankful for so much in my life , my husband of 32 years Steve .my beautiful girls and wonderful son in laws and of course my 4 grandchildren .tomorrow I will host thanksgiving and welcome my family and friends and would like everyone to know if you have no were to go all are welcomed . I am most thankful for the freedom we have in our country to be able to spend this time of year with our loved ones and celebrate as we choose.A lot of families will have an empty place setting this year ,so remember to bow our heads and give thanks to all our military and first responders .
I’m so very thankful for everyday I get to wake up and share life with amazing people.
To my wife and best friend Erin, you have been with me from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows and your love and support has never waivered. Thank you for making me a better man and giving us three amazing children, Cayden, Dylan, and Declan. Thank you for the sacrifices you make for us – there are too many to mention. I am able to be part of and now coach in this great Cfrt community because of you. Your ‘family’ approach is truly remarkable. You simply say
Forget
About
Me
I
Love
You
And make it all work. I love you and the kids, so very much. You define selflessness.
I’m also thankful to my extended family – I have happy and healthy siblings, parents, in laws, and numerous loved ones.
To my coworkers and school family, to my Cfrt family, coaches and members, and each and every person I work with day to day – I’m thankful for you all, you inspire me, challenge me, motivate me, and make me a better person – I hope I do the same in return.
To all who have served, currently serve, and will serve, your sacrifice does not go unnoticed nor unappreciated on the Gaffny’s.
I hope everyone enjoys Thursday with family and friends.
Enjoy the day.
I am thankful and grateful for my amazing husband. In 9 years together we have managed to build such a beautiful life together. Buying our first home this year, growing our family by 4 legs and being able to share all of our craziness with each other.
I am thankful for my job which could not be any more perfect for me if I tried, and all the wonderful people that I’ve had the privilege of meeting because of it.
I am so thankful that I found this kick-ass community to be a part of. This has not been the most consistent year for me in terms of fitness, but you guys have been my rock and inspiration to pick back up when things get off track.
Last but not least I’m thankful for all of the opportunities we have because of all the people that dedicate their lives to keeping us safe.
I hope everyone enjoys the day with friends and family. <3
I’m thankful for my family, as always, and this year I get to say I’m thankful for my niece too. She has brought a lot of joy and screaming to our family. I’m really thankful for my friends, especially the ones I’ve made at CFRT. Like everyone else I’m so so thankful for the rail trail family we have and I still feel very blessed to go there. Happy Thanksgiving!!
I am thankful for my awesome family, my amazing wife Amy and my amazing daughter Averey. I am thankful for an amazing community that I am part of in CFRT, a lot of hard work goes in to have such a great facility for us to go to and be a part of and I am truly thankful for that. I am so thankful to live in the greatest country in the world and for all of those who have and are still making this country a free one where we have the choice to celebrate days such as today. Thanks for all that are part of that we all truly have so much to be thankful for not only today but everyday of the year. Enjoy the day today everyone.
I am thankful for so many things.
For CFRT- Sarah, Mike, and PJ, for bringing crossfit into my life and bringing our amazing community together. For the unbeatable coaching staff for taking the time to make sure every athlete that walks through the door gets a good workout tailored to any ability, ensuring our safety in the pursuit of strength and fitness.
For my family, I am so lucky to have them nearby.
For the many opportunities provided by CFRT to honor our service men and women and to help when we can. Sweats for vets, candy for the troops, and every hero WOD we do, I am thankful for the consistent reminder that freedom is not free. Every rep and every second of catching my breath is a reminder that so many men and women sacrifice their time, their families, and too often their lives to ensure we have the opportunities we have. I am thankful to them.
I am thankful that, while many of us take this day off of work to spend with those we love, there are police officers, fire fighters, EMTs and other medical staff who sacrifice the time with THEIR families to make sure that help with be available, should it be needed.
I am thankful.
Happy Thanksgiving all.
Happy Thanksgiving CFRT
I’m extremely thankful for all past and present service men and women that have allowed me the freedom and ability to be with all my family and friends that I accompany each and every day.
Cheers to a safe and happy Holiday Season:)
I am thankful for all my kids, young and grown. Quinn, at 9 you are already the mother hen. Ava you are a miracle. Caleb I learn from you every day. Sasha your creativity seems limitless. Iris, you go girl. Dite, you live so honestly.
I am thankful for my work, that supports my life in the way it does.
I am thankful for each and every one of my friends. You inspire me.
I am thankful to every generation of every being that came before us and added beauty to the world we all inherited.
I am thankful to all of us in the CFRT community. So much giving in so many ways, it’s humbling. Thanks to our coaches for everything you do. Special thanks to PJ for literally showing me the way.
I am thankful for the love of my life, Ori, who shares all of this and more with me. I love you.
I am beyond grateful for my CFRT family. You literally saved my life. I would not be the strong healthy woman I am today. At 55 I am healthier than I was at 25. I am mentally stronger which is amazing. I have done things that I never thought I would do like compete in a CF comp or do a Spartan race. Coach PJ – you made me believe that I could be an athlete – that I could do things I couldn’t even imagine! Thank you!!!
I am so blessed to have a wonderful husband who makes me happy every day. A daughter and son in law whom I adore. Friends who are closer than family… A church family who shows love and allows me to serve those who are hurting.
Grateful for those who serve our country in every way – military and first responders who give their all so that I can be free and enjoy such a wonderful country. I love that I have a way to honor those who have paid the ultimate price for my freedom. Every hero WOD humbles me.
My heart is full! Thank you CFRT community! Every day in every way you make fitness fun!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I am thankful for finding someone so special to journey through life with. I am thankful for having an incredible support system- my family, who I would be nothing without. I am thankful for my health, food and shelter, and for our nation’s heroes. Lastly, I am thankful for finding CFRT and a means to feel the best I’ve felt (physically and emotionally) as well as make some new friends. You guys inspire me each day and I am so lucky to have that to look forward to 🙂
Happy thanksgiving Rail Trail! I am thankful for a supportive family and friends and every day I get to spend with them. I am thankful to be able to do what I love, in my career and out. I am thankful to the men and women home and away that are away from their loved ones on this day and others to keep us safe.
